Founded in 1828 , the University of Sheffield is home to over 28 000 students. Designated as « University of the Year » by the Times Higher Education and being ranked first for student satisfaction in 2014, the University of Sheffield is a true heavyweight among British universities. A member of the prestigious Russel Group, the academic staff includes six Nobel prize laureates.

The university has both historical buildings as well as modern infrastructure, giving the campus a unique feel. The five libraries, many study spaces, common rooms and green spaces offer students the perfect environment for high flying studies.

In terms of student life, the University of Sheffield has over 300 student clubs and societies as well as around 50 sports teams. On campus, there are cafes, restaurants, shops, a cinema, two bars, three clubs and a radio studio.

Courses and specialties : Architecture, human sciences, engineering, and management

The university of Sheffield consists of five faculties : Arts and human sciences ; Engineering ; Medicine, dentistry and health ; Sciences ; and Social Sciences. The architecture school is particularly famous. It is also one of the oldest in the U.K, having been founded in 1908. The management school has also leapt onto the world stage thanks to a rare triple accreditation from AMBA, AACSB, and EQUIS. Five courses are in the top 50 in the world : archeology, architecture, geography, engineering, and social sciences and politics.

And finally the engineering school goes toe to toe with Cambridge and Imperial College. The research centre has established partnerships with 75 cutting edge companies including Boeing, Rolls Royce, and Siemens.


Joining the University of Sheffield

Applications and admissions to the University of Sheffield are made through UCAS. Study Experience is a specialist in supporting and helping international students through the UCAS application process.

Deadline for applications is usually on January 15th of each year for entry in September. Complete applications must include: a CV, a translated Baccalaureate transcript, IELTS results, and a personal statement. The Study Experience team assists students in the writing of their personal statement and directs them towards the most relevant IELTS preparation program according to their level and needs. The University of Sheffield requires a minimum IELTS score of 6.0. to apply, students must have an average of 13 to 15/20 depending on the programme. Tuition costs £9250 per year. Around a hundred scholarships are available for international students each year.
