Solent University has a large range of degrees from the usual 3-year courses with placement options; foundation and postgraduate degrees, to collaborations with industry partners for Degree apprenticeships, and a large number of top-up and extended degrees.

Solent works with partners such as the BBC, BT, Lloyds Banking Group and Ford which means that you will get the best out of your degrees by working with some of the leading companies in each market.

There is flexible study and work abroad options exist meaning you can study and work in Europe and Canada across many undergraduate programs.

Tuition fees for the academic year 2018-19 for full-time EU undergraduate and foundation level is £9,250.

Courses and Specialties at Solent University

Taking advantage of its harborside location, Solent’s Maritime department is one of the world’s best, with courses ranging from Maritime Business to Marine operations and engineering. As undergraduates and postgraduates you can contribute to live research projects that have a real life effect using facilities such as advanced laboratories, simulators and workshops.

With their huge investments, the facilities of the school of sport, health and social sciences are top of the range; including a multi million pound outdoor sports complex and physiology, psychology and biomechanics laboratories. Here you can do courses such as Applied Human Nutrition, Mental Health and Psychology Wellbeing or apprenticeships in Health and Social Care. Solent is also 3rd in the country for teaching and learning on health, exercise and sport science courses.

Its students also regard Solent as one of the most creative universities in the UK, thanks to its extensive course choice in the Art and Media departments including a variety of production and digital technology courses. They offer hands on facilities such as Television and Music studios and you can even broadcast live festivals during your work experience.  If technology is your thing, Southampton is also home to one of the only 3D cinemas in Europe!

Life at Solent University

Southampton is the perfect student city. With 326 acres of woodland and open space, along with 180+ pubs, bars and nightclubs there is a great mix of rural and urban life.  It’s also very well connected, being only 75 minutes away from London. The University itself is only a 10-minute walk away from the central train station and a 20-minute drive to the airport.

In terms of accommodation, Solent offers city centre living with over 2300 rooms, all within 15 minutes walk from the campus. There are 6 halls of residence within the private rental sector that are all in close proximity to each other, giving it a real student community feel. Situated next to the campus and the city centre, you will have everything you need within a walking distance.

Applying to Solent University

Complete applications must include: a CV, a translated Baccalaureate transcript, IELTS results, and a personal statement. The Study Experience team assists students in the writing of their personal statement and directs them towards the most relevant IELTS preparation program according to their level and needs. In terms of English language requirements, you achieve a minimum of 6.0 for all undergraduate programs and 6.5 for postgraduate programs, but there is also a pre sessional English course on offer if needed. A portfolio is also required for most of the art and design courses.
