Solent University offers a large range of degrees from the usual 3-year courses with placement options; foundation and postgraduate degrees, to collaborations with industry partners for Degree apprenticeships, and a large number of top-up and extended degrees.

Solent works with partners such as the BBC, BT, Lloyds Banking Group and Ford which means that you will get the best out of your degrees by working with some of the leading companies in each market.

With flexible study and work abroad options, students have the opportunity to study and work in Europe and Canada across many undergraduate programs.

Tuition fees for the academic year 2019-20 for full-time EU undergraduate and foundation level students is £9,250.


Degree programmes and specialities at Solent University

Taking advantage of its harbour side location, Solent’s Maritime department is one of the best in the world, with courses ranging from Maritime Business to Marine operations and Engineering. Undergraduates and postgraduates contribute to research projects that have a real-life effect using facilities such as advanced laboratories, simulators and workshops.

With their huge investments, the Sport, Health and Social Science facilities are top of the range; including a multimillion pound outdoor sports complex and physiology, psychology and biomechanics laboratories. Students can undertake courses in Applied Human Nutrition, Mental Health and Psychology Wellbeing or apprenticeships in Health and Social Care. Solent is also 3rd in the country for teaching and learning on Health, Exercise and Sport Science courses.

Solent University’s students regard Solent as one of the UK’s most creative universities, thanks to its extensive degree programmes in the Art and Media departments including a variety of production and digital technology courses. The University offers hands-on facilities such as Television and Music studios and students can even broadcast live festivals during their work experience.  If technology is your thing, Southampton is also home to one of the only 3D cinemas in Europe!


Life at Solent University

Southampton is the perfect student city. With 326 acres of woodland and open space, along with more than 180 pubs, bars and nightclubs there is a great mix of rural and urban life.  The city is also very well connected, being just over 1 hour away from London. The University itself is only a 10-minute walk away from the central train station and a 20-minute drive to the airport.

In terms of accommodation, Solent offers student residences in the city centre with over 2,300 rooms, all within a 15-minute walk from campus. There are 6 halls of residence within the private rental sector that are all in close proximity to each other, giving it a real student community feel. Situated next to the campus and the city centre, you will have everything you need within a walking distance.


Apply to Solent University

Applications and admissions to Solent University are made through UCAS. Study Experience is specialised in supporting and helping international students throughout the UCAS application process.

The deadline for applications is usually on January 15th of each year for entry in September. Complete applications must include; a CV, a translated Baccalaureate transcript, IELTS results, and a personal statement. The Study Experience team assists students in the writing of their personal statement and directs them towards the most relevant IELTS preparation program according to their level and needs. In terms of English language requirements, Solent requires a minimum of 6.0 for all undergraduate programs and 6.5 for postgraduate programs, but there is also a pre sessional English course on offer if needed. A portfolio is also required for most of the art and design courses.
