Created under the name of Sheffield School of Design in 1843, Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) has since grown considerably. Now the third largest British university, it welcomes 37,000 students each year, 11% of whom are international. The school has nonetheless managed to retain its intense focus on teaching its students the necessary skills needed to thrive in the professional world. Consequently, all degree programs respond to the needs and expectations of their associated professional industry and are designed in collaboration with industry professionals. Sheffield Hallam has two campuses and some of the most modern facilities in the country. In 2010, the school invested over £100 million to build new buildings and new resources. The training centres on both campuses boast both traditional style libraries and high tech multimedia centres to which students have 24/7 access. Computers resources  play a pivotal role in both individual and group work, many courses relying heavily on the university’s online systems.

Accommodation is guaranteed for first year students, whether that be via the university or via local partners. The accommodation offered is varied, including university residences, houses and apartments, all with various features. Price varies and rent usually includes all expenses – an all inclusive package so there are no issues upon arrival!


Join Sheffield Hallam University

Applications and admissions to Sheffield Hallam University are made through UCAS. Study Experience is specialised in supporting and helping international students throughout the UCAS application process.

The deadline for applications is usually on January 15th of each year for entry in September. Complete applications must include; a CV, a translated Baccalaureate transcript, IELTS results, and a personal statement. The Study Experience team assists students in the writing of their personal statement and directs them towards the most relevant IELTS preparation program according to their level and needs. Regarding English entry requirements, Sheffield Hallam University requires a minimum IELTS score of 6.0.
