About De Montfort University

Founded in 1870, as the Leicester School of Art, De Montfort University has become one of the best universities in the world when it comes to research, thanks to programmes that give Oxbridge a run for its money. Since its creation, it has constantly evolved to meet the ever-changing demands of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Today, the school counts 27,000 full-time students and four schools: Art, Design and Humanities, Business and Law, Health and Life Sciences and Technology as well as the largest variety of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, meaning there is something for everyone.

Life and studies in Leicester

Leicester is located in the centre of England, on the Soar river, and close to the national forest. Given the city’s long history, there are many medieval monuments, such as the tomb of Richard III, and all within close proximity of thrillingly modern buildings. The city has a large range of shopping centres, including the “Golden Mile”, with authentic Indian restaurants, saris shops and jewellers. Leicester is also home to many traditional British restaurants, as well as the largest open-air market in Europe. Numerous festivals, museums and theatres offer entertainment for all, as do several professional and semi-professional sports teams . With London being less than two hours away on the train, you will be able to visit many famous sites: Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey are just a small sample of the architectural delights on offer. Apply to De Montfort University

Applications and admissions to De Montfort University are made through UCAS. Study Experience is specialised in supporting and helping international students throughout the UCAS application process.

The deadline for applications is usually on January 15th of each year for entry in September. Complete applications must include; a CV, a translated Baccalaureate transcript, IELTS results, and a personal statement. The Study Experience team assists students in the writing of their personal statement and directs them towards the most relevant IELTS preparation program according to their level and needs, advising you to apply to sit the exam at least 4 to 6 months in advance, in order to ensure all the necessary documents are provided within the deadline. A minimum score of 6,0 is required on the IELTS exam in order to be accepted to De Montfort University.
