Founded in 1970, Thompson Rivers University offers bachelor’s, master’s, and certificate programs in the heart of the Canadian wilderness. Courses and Specialties

Thompson Rivers University offers a variety of programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate level. Thompson Rivers University’s primary campus is located east of downtown Kamloops and overlooks the junction of the North Thompson and South Thompson rivers, from which the university gets its name. The campus sits within walking distance of the commercial district and residential areas, as well as being directly adjacent to Kamloops’ largest recreational facility, Tournament Capital Centre.

TRU provides several housing options including on-campus residences composed of single suites, single or shared rooms, shared kitchens, and fitness rooms. Students living in the residence halls also enjoy access to wireless internet, satellite television, game rooms, and a patio with barbecues. TRU students may also opt for a private apartment in the Upper College Heights neighborhood or join a host family.

Applying to Thompson Rivers University

The admissions process for Thompson Rivers University is fairly simple. Prospective applicants are expected to provide official school transcripts translated from their native language to English, letters of recommendation, a personal statement covering why they want to study at TRU, and IELTS English language proficiency scores to a standard of 6.5 or higher out of 9.

For students with IELTS score below the requirement, TRU invites applicants to enroll in a bridge program consisting of refresher courses in mixed languages and core curriculum subjects relevant to your degree.
