Perth, the capital of western Australia, is one of the most popular cities in Australia among international students. And for good reason : the mediterranean climate, warm and enjoyable, makes it the perfect study environment for those who embrace ‘farniente’. The activities on offer are many, from West Coast Eagles or West Coast Pirates games, to concerts at Kings Park and at the Quarry Ampitheatre, to visits to PICA or the Art Gallery of Western Australia. The main campus, partly financed by the contribution of first chancelor Sir Winthrop Hackett, is one of the most beautiful in the country. The facilities are modern, with WiFi and food outlets, to allow you to learn in a comfortable and welcoming environment. UWA offers housing opportunities on campus, as well as a housing office to assist you in the search for off-campus accommodation, adaptable to your budget and preferences.
UWA is an elite university and as such is quite selective. It is therefore quite important to start the application procedure as soon as possible. Study Experience recommends 5 to 6 months before the deadline for applying. There are two term starts, one in February and one in July. The deadlines are generally a month to a month and a half before the start of term. Don’t forget to take the IELTS test with a sufficient score (6.5 for an undergraduate and 7.0 for a postgraduate), as well as getting your transcripts translated by a certified translator.
A study programme abroad is an investment in your future. The choice of university is therefore absolutely key to make the investment worth it. Choosing the University of Western Australia is a guarantee of a return on investment, by taking a high quality course in one of the best australian universities.
