The UNSW Institute of Languages offers many programs including: General English, Business English, English for law, and a university pathway.
General English classes are directed at students wishing to improve their communication in English for social, academic and professional contexts. Those classes are offered on six levels, from beginner to advanced. This program can be completed with a Cambridge examination preparation course.
The Academic English course is designed for students wishing to gain the skills that are necessary to study in an English-speaking higher education system. These key competencies are, among others, essay and report writing, reading of academic texts, listening and note taking. Following this program, students can join the Foundation English Entry Course (FEEC) for a foundation year that guarantees them a place at UNSW without having to take the IELTS.
This course prepares students to communicate efficiently in a professional context. It also constitutes a great introduction to business studies in Australia. During the program, students study marketing, different management styles, negotiation and presentation skills, electronic commerce, hospitality and tourism, as well as stock trade and financial trends.
Designed for students with an intermediate to advanced training in law, this program prepares them to the International Legal English Certificate (ILEC). This program is ideal for law students about to finish their degree or for young graduates wishing to improve their English.
