The UC International Gap Year program is a partnership with the prestigious University of Canterbury. Founded in 1873 by scholars from Oxford and Cambridge, the University of Canterbury is one of the oldest institutions in New Zealand.
During their gap year, students improve their level of English and acquire critical new knowledge in Business. They are trained for studies in Business within New Zealand’s higher education system.
Students of the UCIC have access to all of the University of Canterbury’s facilities. The campus offers various opportunities for cultural and social activities. It also boasts various cafés, restaurants and bars, as well as several libraries, computer labs, and study rooms.
This program lasts one to two semesters depending on the needs and objectives of the students. It is a combination of academic English classes and university modules from the Business department. The amount of English classes each week depends on the level of the student. The better his/her level in English, the more university module he/she will be able to take.
Students can join the program in October, February or June. Students must hold a baccalaureate diploma and have achieved a minimum IELTS score of 5.0. This program costs 12,885 NZD for a semester or 25,770 NZD for a year; this includes accommodation expenses.
