Languages International is a medium-sized school welcoming between 200 and 300 students each year. Small classes (only 14 students) guarantee fast progress. The level is high but the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Bilingual advisors are her to support students throughout their stay. The school also offers various social, sports and cultural activities: the opportunity to meet new people and to practice English in an everyday context. Activities include: touch rugby, sailing, wine tasting, and many more. On weekends, the school organizes fieldtrips to visit Hobbiton, discover the Maori culture, and see great natural wonders such as Muriwai, Opononi and Waitomo.
Languages International offers two types of programs: General English and English for University.
Regular meetings and tests with their advisors allow students to track their own progress in relation to their initial learning objectives. These programs include 23 contact hours per week.
This program is ideal for those wishing to learn how to communicate fluently in English. In addition to the general teachings (reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary), students choose an option: film studies, English in the workplace, New Zealand, media studies, conversational English. Students can try different optional classes throughout their stay. This program is open to all and costs 415 NZD per week (full-time) or 315 NZD per week (part-time).
This program prepares students to study at university, polytechnic or college in New Zealand or in any other English-speaking country. Students improve their communication skills; they develop their abilities to read and analyze academic articles and technical texts; they practice writing essays and reports; they train at note taking; and finally, they learn how to participate in debates and academic discussions. This program lasts 12 weeks and can be combined with a IELTS preparation course. The University Pathway program costs 435 NZD per week.
Languages International also offers classes in Business English. These are directed at professional wishing to better their knowledge of English in the context of their career.
The Languages International school is divided between three historical buildings located in the heart of Albert Park. This magnificent and peaceful environment is ideal to study and to relax. Downtown Auckland is only a few steps away and the main campus of the University of Auckland is right across the street.
Most students at Languages International opt for a homestay. This is a great way to experience the New Zealand way of life while practicing the English learnt at school. Homestays include half-board during the week and full-board on weekends. Students benefit from their own room with a quiet space for studies.
Languages International also offers student halls accommodation for all types of budgets. These halls are all located nearby the school. A room in halls costs between 250 and 465 NZD per week. Studio apartments are also available starting at 370 NZD per week.
