Phoenix Academy has over twenty years of experience in preparing thousands of students to Standard English language examinations (Cambridge, IELTS & TESOL). Since its inception it has successfully trained over 36,000 students. The average number of students per class is 14.
The Gap Year program at Phoenix Academy is perfect for students who wish to perfect their English while gaining ‘real world’ practical skills. Once enrolled, students can choose between four distinct study tracks or ‘focus,’ based on their needs: English, Business, Hospitality or Australian University Experience.
English Focus: General English + Cambridge Examination (FCE or CAE)
Business Focus: General English +/or Diploma of Business
Hospitality Focus: General English +/or Diploma in Hospitality
University Experience Focus: EAP (English for Academic Purposes) + University Semester Abroad
The first three packages include General English classes (from beginner to advanced levels) delivered in six weeks modules throughout the year. Students can enroll for 3, 6 or 9 months of classes.
The « English” option combines General English classes with intensive preparation to the Cambridge exams, including mock examinations and individual coaching sessions.
The « Business option is tailored to international students seeking to gain practical and on-demand business skills. Students will have the opportunity to refine their English while boosting their employability by learning how to lead a team, develop a business plan, manage projects and meetings.
The « Hospitality option helps students gain the essentials skills and knowledge they’ll need in any hospitality context, including restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.
The « University Experience focus lets students spend a semester of their Gap Year at one of Phoenix Academy’s university partners (Curtin, Murdoch or Edith Cowan). Before their semester abroad, student must take English for Academic Purposes aim of the EAP track is to prepare students to meet the necessary language requirement for academic writing at university level.
With all of the above programs, students will have the option to complete an internship placement at a company located in Perth or in another Australian city. It is a great way to explore career paths and interests before moving on to further studies.
One of the perks of studying at Phoenix Academy is the complete package available to students, including comprehensive support services. The university offers meet-and-greet services at the airport, as well as a number of on-campus and off campus accommodation options (e.g. family homestay).
Living with an Australian family is a great option for those seeking an immersive language experience. Accommodation is located no more than 30- 40 minutes away from campus by public transport. Students are served 2 meals per day during the week (breakfast and dinner) and 3 meals per day over the weekend.
Studying English is not the only reason to come to Australia. For sun and adventure there is just no better place than Perth! It has consistently been voted the most liveable cities in the world. After classes most students take a break in a nearby cafe or visit one of the many city beaches.
