Cambridge is the ideal location to study English! The Cambridge Academy of English (CAE) stands out from other language schools thanks to its programs especially designed for adults and with a unique “English for law” course.
Since 1975, the school has been welcoming students of all level and age, coming from 75 different countries. It provides an environment similar to the one experienced at the prestigious University of Cambridge: friendly yet hard-working.
At CAE, students not only benefit from outstanding classes but also from a complete experience of the British culture and way of life.
The CAE offers two main programs: a general English program for adults and an English for law program. In both cases, a week of classes is made up of 21 hours of teachings and 10 hours of personal study assisted by a professor. There are never more than 12 students per class and nationalities are varied. Finally, the school organizes many social activities to practice the English learnt in class.
The general English program is open all year round to students of all levels, for linguistic stays lasting between two weeks to one year. Afternoons are reserved for optional modules: exam preparation, conversation and oral comprehension, specific interests such as professional communication, or sciences and nature. At the end of their stay, students receive a certificate and a general report on their progress. The school also prepares students to take the IELTS, the TOEFL and the TOEIC, as well as Cambridge examinations (CAE, FCE, CPE). This program of studies costs between £295 and £275 per week or £3420 for 12 weeks. Books and materials are provided.
The CAE is the only school recognized by the British Council for “English for law” courses. Its program is directed at students in law and young lawyers whose level of English is intermediate to advanced. For three weeks, students are trained alongside teachers specialized in English and in law. They learn how to communicate through speaking and writing in an English that is adapted to a legal context; they meet professionals from the sector, and visit legal institutions in London and Cambridge. This program costs between £1119 and £1493 for three weeks.
The CAE is located in a safe and pleasant residential area in Cambridge. As the home of one of the best universities in the world, the city of Cambridge is a cultural and lively place.
The majority of adult students at CAE stay with local families. These are carefully handpicked and all live nearby the school. The CAE also offers accommodation options within the school itself and advises students on nearby hotels and B&Bs. In summer, students have the opportunity to stay in one of the colleges of the University of Cambridge.
